The Challenge
Peru’s Environmental Protection Agency (OEFA) established a new department dedicated to capacity building and educating its employees, other government agencies, and the public. Each of these groups had different needs and required tailored messages to encourage their participation in courses and educational activities. The challenge was how to effectively communicate these activities to each segment, compounded by the fact that OEFA did not have an up-to-date database of all its workers.
- The Approach
- First, we mapped the necessary information to properly segment our audience. This included their undergraduate studies, educational level, preferred class schedules, and tenure with the organization.
- After defining this information, we consolidated it into a single database.
- We uploaded this list to an email marketing software solution and began creating templates for each segment.
- To engage potential students, we created between four and five emails per course.
- We set up an email automation routine to nurture potential students until they signed up for a class.
- After each campaign, we provided a detailed report showing how many students opened the emails, clicked on links, and ultimately signed up for a course.
- The Results
- Set up and executed over 30 email marketing campaigns with an average open rate of 12% and an average click rate of 2%.
- Built a contact list for employees, other government agencies, and the public list with over 2000 contacts each in two years.
